We must continue to reinforce the practice of frequent hand washing, physical distancing, and wearing of Personal Protective Equipment to collectively address the contracting or spread of COVID-19.

A dedicated area should be designated to screen visitors entering the workplace. This designated area should not be an enclosed, confined space while still allowing for privacy of the individuals being screened. Health and safety protocols must be adhered to. Visitors waiting to be screened are required to have a distance of 6 feet (2m) between them. Physical barriers such as a plexiglass partition are an added safety measure. Face coverings must be worn by visitors and individuals overseeing the screening process. For those who cannot wear a face covering for medical reasons, accommodation must be provided. Ensure there is hand sanitizer available to encourage hand hygiene. If temperature checks are required, use a non-contact thermometer following the manufacturer’s instructions.
A sample ‘Visitor, Customer, Contractor’ Screening template can be found here: Covid-19 Checklist. It is recommended that visitors use their own pen to fill out the Screening Form. If this is not possible, be sure to use alcohol wipes after each use. Take the necessary precautions to ensure health information is kept private and confidential. It is a good idea to post notices asking visitors to report any COVID-19 symptoms experienced within fourteen (14) days of their visit. Information gathered will assist with contact tracing in the event an employee, visitor, customer or contractor has come into contact with the virus which will help with the effort to contain the spread.
